Hi ES. I was once a JW who made the truth his own. And re: the UN thing, althought it shocked me when I first read about it on this forum, I don't think it would've convinced me when I was a die-hard JW, I beleived in the WTS so much that any excuse they gave would've convinced me. What really did it for me was when I read about Charles Russel getting 1914 from the pyramids, 1914 is the basis of ALL JW theology, maybe try that angle as well.

Are JWs a cult? Well, just ask them ...
by ljwtiamb inw94 2/15 pp.
5-7 are jehovah?s witnesses a cult?
are jehovah?s witnesses a cult?.

I haven't read all of these posts, toomany of them, but I get the jest. As far as the title is concerned, " Are Jw's a Cults? Just ask them" its very foolish to say that, its like asking a Used Car Salesman if he is honest, "OF Course !" he will say, what someone has to do to is to ask someone else who has had dealings with the Used Car Salesman. And you may find that some are happy with the Car they bought from him but if you find that many aren't happy with the Car and they paid high prices and got no after-sales service then you know he is a crook,.... just like the WTS.

I think that this is why God made the marriage arrangement, we weren't made to have children here and there without being married, and both children and mother need the benefit of a responsible father and hubby. And staying together not seperating, I know some might not like me saying that , but not everything that the WTS taught us was wrong. The family arrangement is a basic teaching of the bible not the WTS its one of the things that seperates us from the animals.

I once knew a man named Jesus.
by The Lone Ranger ini knew a man named jesus, and i am not talking about jesus christ, this man was a jw from spain, and he was named jesus, apparently jesus is very common in the spanish language, but when i first meet him and he told me his name i freaked out and i had such a laugh, i couldn?t help but think of the funny situations that can come with it.
so i saw him once at the district convention, and i walked up to him and said in a load voice ... ".jesus!
fancy meeting you here!

Of course other brothers near us looked at me horrified as if I just blasphemed, but I turned to them and said?...." his name is Jesus! Really !"...and they had this stunned look on there face, I still have a laugh about that time even these days.

Do You Think Pink?
by prophecor inwhy are men petrified of the color pink?
would you, as a man, ever wear anything pink, say a pink polo shirt, with a pair of faded blue jeans?
although a bit out of the ordinary for most men, the artist in me ask, what is it with the very sexist colour of pink?
-
The Lone Ranger
This PINK thing is purely a western culture thing, Girls wear Pink and Boys wear Blue, you might as well claim that girls are scared of blue. In the 80?s grey suits with pink shirt for men were IN. I had a pink shirt and I had no problem with it because it was in fashion, but no longer. And if I had a pink Cadillac or a pink Merc I?ll be very happy about it.

Thoughts on Reading CoC
by love2Bworldly ini am reading crisis of conscience and am wondering what goes through people's minds when they read it, i am on about page 115. i find it slow reading because of the way it is written.
even though i have been out of the org for going on 20 years, i am a little shocked at some of the stuff i'm reading and i feel like it shouldn't shock me.
i remember when i was a jw, how the governing body was put on a pedestal; everyone assumes they spend all their time studying and praying over matters from a scriptural standpoint.

To really appreciate these 2 books the COC and ISOCF one has to be a JW. The more deeper you were in the WTS the more you?ll appreciate these books, because they hit home. The ID called ?Love2Bwordly? states that it was slow reading but then she has being out for 20 years. When I first read the COC I couldn?t put it down, I marked it like it was a Watchtower magazine. It was the best $30 I ever spent. Ladylee staeted that ?Some people say the author (of 30 years a WT slave) sounds angry.? I would think it would be hard not to sound angry when you?ve discovered you?ve being lied to for 30 years but to the reader this always sounds incriminating.

Bookstudy Group Disbanded......haha
by Mary ini just got word that the bookstudy attendance in one of the groups at my hall has dwindled off to numbers so pitiful that they're dissolving this particular bookstudy group and splitting up the remainder and shipping them out to other bookstudy groups.

Once the CO asked me why I think meeting attence was low. I said to him "there is too much Condemnation and not enought Commendation", he didn't say nothing, I realy think he didn't like the answer, probably because it was the right answer but not what he wanted to hear.
